Where to find your Place ID
The fastest way is the link Google already made for you. Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile, search your own business name on Google, and in the panel that appears look for the button that says Ask for reviews. It copies a short link that starts with g.page/r/. Paste that above and you are done.
If you would rather use the Place ID itself, Google’s Place ID finder has a search box halfway down the page. Type your business name, click the right result, and copy the ID it shows, which usually starts with ChIJ.
A Google Maps share link will not work here. Those links point at the map pin, not the review form, and the ID is not inside them.
What to do with the link
Send it once, the same day, to the customer whose job went well. The text above is a starting point; change it until it sounds like you. Most people who leave a review do it within an hour of being asked, so an email three days later is mostly wasted. The QR code is for the moments when you are standing in front of them: on the invoice, on the card you leave on the counter, on the back window of the van.
Do not offer anything in exchange for a review. Google removes reviews it thinks were paid for, and a business that gets caught can lose the whole profile. Asking is fine. Asking everyone is fine. Paying is not.
What the link does not do
A Google review lives on Google. It helps somebody who is already comparing you with the roofer two towns over, and it does nothing for the person who has landed on your own website and is deciding whether to call. That page still says whatever you wrote about yourself.
