Review request text templates you can copy
By Tyler Helton · · 3 min read
A review request text should be short and sound like you. When you send it matters almost as much. Below are four I'd send if I ran a trade business. Change the names, put your own link where it says [link], and send from your own phone so the reply comes back to you.
The day of the job
Send this the evening you finish, while the result is still in front of them.
Hi Dana, thanks for having us out today. If you have a minute, would you tell people what the job was like? It's one tap and no account.

Thanks either way.
"Thanks either way" matters. It takes the pressure off, and I'd rather get a no than a grudging yes.
A week later
Send this when you didn't get to ask on the day, or when they said they'd do it and haven't. One reminder is plenty. Don't send a second.
Hi Dana, hope the new faucet is still behaving. If you get a minute, a sentence or two about how the visit went would help a lot.

No worries if you're busy.
A repeat customer
Someone who has hired you twice already knows your work better than anyone who found you last week. Ask them the next time you finish a job for them, and say why you're asking.
Hi Marcus, always good to work on your place again. Since you've used us a few times now, would you tell newer customers what it's been like?

Thanks for sticking with us.
A job that had a hiccup
Say the thing out loud first. A delay or a part that came in wrong is not the end of the relationship, and a customer who watched you fix it can write the most believable review you'll get. Wait until it's resolved and they're happy with it, then send this.
Hi Priya, sorry again about the part coming in late. Thanks for being patient while we sorted it out. If you're happy with how it ended up, I'd appreciate a few words about the job.

And if something still isn't right, call me and I'll fix it.
If they're not happy yet, don't send a link at all. Call them.
Where the rest are
These four cover most days. I keep a longer set, nine in all, on the review request templates page. If you'd rather have the words appear on your own website instead of Google, the same ideas work in how to ask a client for a testimonial.
